Support your community with a Social Impact CD

Make an impact in your community while you earn interest.

A Social Impact Certificate of Deposit (CD) provides funds for Express CU to enable lending to low-income members and to people who would otherwise rely on overpriced, predatory finance companies.

Social Impact CDs are smart investments for foundations, trusts, businesses, non-profit, and individuals.

Your zero-risk, insured $50,000+ Social Impact CD expands our lending capacity and helps cover the cost of providing free accounts to unbanked and underbanked people in Washington State.

A $50,000 Social Impact CD with Express Credit Union supports 15 low-income Washington Families with access to fair and affordable financial services, whereas a $50,000 CD at a bank only benefits the shareholders.

Choose from 1 year, 2 year or 3 year CD maturities. Many find that multiple CDs with staggered maturities provide added flexibility.

We’re currently sourcing new deposits and have a goal to obtain $5 million in deposits by the end of 2024. Help Express CU hit this goal.

* APY = Annual Percentage Yield. Rates accurate as of 1/1/2023. Will automatically renew into same term certificate of deposit at maturity, unless otherwise notified. Rates for renewed certificates will be in accordance to current rates at that date. $10.00 early withdrawal fee PLUS: 30 days interest forfeiture for terms 12 months or less; 90 days interest forfeiture for terms greater than 12 months. How to open a CD

Existing Members

Call us at (206) 622-1850, send us an email at socialimpactcd@expresscu.org, or send a message through online banking. Let us know the amount you want to invest and for what term and we can get that set up for you.

Non Members

You must establish an account with us in order to open a CD. Complete our membership application online and when the representative contacts you let them know you also want a Social Impact CD. For non member businesses, non profits, foundations, trusts, email socialimpactcd@expresscu.org or call us at (206) 622-1850 to set up your account. If you have any questions about the process or the impact made possible by your deposits, please don’t hesitate to call.
